ugh.
I'm sorry I've been so absent. I'm really trying to post more for you all.
more info under the cut
i think ive mentioned that i have various health issues and conditions before
the big ones affecting me right now are seasonal affective disorder, fribromyalgia/chronic pain syndrome, and plantar fasciitis in both feet and on top of all that, i am currently transitioning.
theres a lot of financial strain on me at the moment; my fiance's income is the only one we have. i'm too disabled to work a regular job but not disabled enough to receive disability income. thanks america. but yeah i owe over $1400 to various medical offices in addition to the ongoing copays for my various meds (a month's worth of t is $60), thanks america, AND i'm about to turn 26 next month, after which i will no longer be able to be on my parents' health insurance, thanks america.
all that to say that if i continue to be somewhat absent I'm very sorry
#dangwriting#about dang#fuck i hate it here#medical issues#american health system#it sucks#im 26 years old#ive been diagnosed with 7 disorders conditions or syndromes#9 if you dont count having something in both sides of your body as one item#i hate the american healthcare industry#healthcare should be socialized

Programs like this always show the same results - people are better off and better able to participate in life and society in healthy ways when they are financially secure. It's past time to make universal basic income a reality for all Americans.

Idk how people go into social science research knowing that you're anyway going to spend your entire life arguing with wilfully ignorant fuckwits over stuff like "keeping one-tenth of the world's GDP locked up in a handful of people's accounts is bad for a functional economy'', "you shouldn't have to pay money to stay alive", "letting people mind their own business won't hurt you", "knowledge is good actually", "people have the right to do whatever they want with their own bodies", "children are people too", "germs are real", "spreading disease is bad for society", "genocide is bad actually", "letting the government kill people puts everyone in danger because everyone is people", "access to long-distance murder weapons increases the chances of getting murdered", "you can't give a clump of cells the same rights as a human being" ad fucking nauseaum until you die.
#maybe we should just use small words and picture books#make up a ''why people dont need murder weapons'' song#hotline for explaining ''it's called human 'rights' because you can't take them away''#social justice#ableism#anti vaxxers#human rights#abolition#homelessness#universal healthcare#universal basic income#food security#military industrial complex#child rights#body autonomy#pro choice#gay rights#trans rights#acab#anti intellectualism#racism#disability justice#compassion fatigue#knee of huss

sometimes when a con is coming up my coworkers and hang out after work at some space at our workplace making our cosplays which is great and chill bc i love doing my crafts in an environment where i feel at ease. anyways. one of them needs to look after her cat and she suggested that we do our thing at her place. which. yeah ofc! but also day instantly ruined from slight deviation to plans. i was supposed to go home. grab my materials. eat. grab an energy drink to go and drink it while sitting on the floor of a meeting room doing stuff to foam clay. but now i have to go to someone's house. i havent been there before. i am not at ease at anyone's house almost ever. i will be too anxious to get shit done. i will not be able to enjoy my energy drink as i dont want to be sipping it at someones House yknow. and i'm also terrified of being in the way or in someone's turf when im not at all familiar with the place. i cant sit on the floor at someones fancy home idk if i can manage working under conditions that aren't shrimp pose.
#i will be SO brave tonight at the cost of my social battery#which is fine ig since i dont have work tomorrow. just fun things.#but friday and saturday will b suuper busy as there's a music festival i actually enjoy and im going there with 2 friends 2nd year in a row#which will also be fun#but draining#but not so draining that it would require anything more than sleeping in on sunday#anyways do you guys think i should finally do something about my social anxiety#i mean i should and i could bc of work healthcare but idk how to do that#i need a step by step#and i cant get one bc ill just get a ''just call there''#which. i can do phonecalls nowadays. but i will not be able to say anything i want to so i will need to prepare#anyways welcome to my anxiety rant i will now go back to editing on the clock lmao#leevi talks

why does every article reporting on idf war crimes go "hamas, who started the war on october 7th with their brutal terrorist attack slaughtering innocent israeli civilians, has condemned the idf's use of-"? like, nearly verbatim every single time. we know about october 7th. we know by now. half the time, hamas isnt even relevant but they gotta find some way to sow doubt and numb any potential compassion responses. will you get fired if you show sympathy for murdered palestinian civilians without first adding a disclaimer saying its all their fault for being born in gaza? if you call "palestinians under 18" children? if you use the words "murdered" or "brutal" or "massacre" for acts that didnt occur on october 7th? if you call a spade a spade? why are israeli reports front page news without proper fact-checking but palestinian reporting is always "allegedly" even when theres video evidence? why does the idf not get the hamas treatment of reminding everyone that theyre biased before treating their words as law, like they havent been caught bold-faced lying again and again?
#soooooo fucking infuriating#'palestinians are allegedly starving but thats what hamas (who are savage terrorists in case you forgot) said as well so who knows?'#'idf soldiers are allegedly bragging about and showing pictures and videos of their war crimes on social media but#its not in english so we may never know what theyre saying. palestinian ''civilians'' are translating so whatever they say must be wrong'#'in other news. heres what ''doctors'' are referring to as a ''calendar'' but is written in arabic (terrorist language) so the idf must be#telling the truth when they say its proof they are all evil and must in some nebulous way suddenly stop living'#to be fair. the 'secret hamas names list disguised as calendar but REALLY about oct 7' shit was the target of skepticism quite early on#but it really does show how often the idf lies to justify obvious war crimes#maybe they should provide verified evidence or even just be given a bias disclaimer before printing their claims as fact???#every single fucking death toll is phrased as 'hamas-run ministry of health reports death toll of x' like?#yeah? thats their fucking government? what else do you expect?#you do understand that the healthcare portion of their government is probably more reputable#than what the phrasing of those headlines are obviously trying to imply?#i understand that bias is still possible there but its not armed combatants making shit up#its doctors who receive govt paychecks doing their best to identify the disfigured bodies not buried under rubble#youre not slick with that wording

The elections are over in the UK.
Shabbaz has a really good summary of the current situation. It’s worth taking a look.
And if my peeps over here live in the UK, please go out and vote in every election. Demand accountability from your local representatives. You can hold them accountable when they aren’t living up to their manifesto.
I no longer live in the UK. I was one of the many European migrant workers that left because of Brexit. The environment was hostile, the whole settlement scheme was giving dejavú of the Windrush scandal. Residency was now dependent on work visas, citizenship no longer attainable.
If you still live in the UK do your utmost to keep the tories out. Jacob Rees Mogg does not have your best interest at heart, his businesses are not even located in the UK. Boris Johnson got his French passport while he was pushing for Brexit. They’ve trashed the country to let you living in rubbles while they have a escape route.
#uk elections#uk politics#jacob rees mogg need to start paying taxes#jacob rees mogg should shut up about abortion#protect women’s rights in the uk#protect queer youth#protect trans kids#abortion is human rights don’t let the american missionaries protest in front of the uk health clinics#nobody needs to import that kinda hate#abortion is healthcare#feed the children at school#wealth redistribution#social justice#social programmes are meant to lift people up and not to force them further into poverty#tuition for uni is a tool to keep poor people from accessing education and further discriminate them in the job market

Me, watching the results roll in:
Listening to coworkers celebrating the next day, saying how they’re so excited and how one of the reasons they voted for him was lower grocery prices like:
I hope my rights, our rights, were worth the lies, bud! 🙃🙃🙃
#i too would like lower grocery prices#tariffs are not it bud#i also would love to keep my rights. have a functioning government. have healthcare and social programs that support the people#environmental protections#y’know#things that our country should have#instead we got *gestures broadly at the shitshow*#i am devastated and angry and betrayed. but trying to hold on to the rays of hope

Ohhhhhh my goddddddddd so I’ve basically been to the doctor three times since turning 18 and aging out of the pediatrician because of my horrible doctor fears and issues. So it’s a MOMENTOUS occasion and the culmination of years of glacial self-work that I felt ready FINALLY READY to sit down and make a doctors appointment for a routine visit!! Like that is give or take a decade in the making…….and all the ethereal alchemical elements were correct so I could finally do it this morning. But the clinic is closed and you can only do it weekdays ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️ ok guess I am going to the doctor in 10 years probably. See you 2034
#the year when the water riots destroy Los Angeles finally#i want to go bc I need an inhaler and a blood panel ;-;#that’ll be $200 total probably!!!!!! agghdgdgdh#ok lucky for me my tax statement from 2023 was lowwwww bc I did most of my work under the table…#me who is low income when services for low income exist: but that’s 4 ppl who really need it!!!!! meanwhile I only eat dried beans#but basically I’ll probably make a bit more this year so I might try to get all the 10 years of accumulated cavities taken care of now#while it only costs 6 months’ paycheck and not 6 years!#I’ve got a really insane visible hole in my canine it’s soooo bad#:-/#the thing is that my mental health is so good rn I’m like wtf was I doinggggggg and I get so mad at myself. how quickly we forget the#horrors…#and also my hope is that since it’s a low income clinic they’ll be really kind to me when they tell me I have 18 cavities :-(#also me who has slipped through the cracks of the healthcare system due to mental health and gets flagged by social services meant to catch#people slipping through the cracks: but you guys should focus on the ppl who REALLY need it!!!!! I’m literally fine *dies of completely#preventable ailment that would’ve been flagged by routine bloodwork*

I do understand loveless arromantics in the romantic love sense, but I'm worried about the No Friends, No Nothing gang, not gonna lie 🤡
Just saw someone saying there is NOTHING essential to the human experience and I was like, Hold On .
Let's calm down 🖐
#mira.jpeg#i deal with healthcare ofc i'll get anxious if someone tells me they'd rather be 100% alone#i'm not saying it's impossible there are ppl out there who are genuinely like that#but i am saying it's safer to think of it as an experience we should “accept” (in lack of a better word)...#...only after we've eliminated other possibilities 😕#cause although it's a fact there's enough humans for us to consider the estatistical possibility anything's possible#we also know 99.9% ppl who come and say they'd rather be 100% alone deal with depression or trauma or adjacent problems#so in order of being cautious i'll be the annoying worried soul asking: are you sure about that buddy?#are you sure human beings... who are a social species... do Not need any kind of love?#are you sure? like... completely sure?#(also: the “there's nothing essential to the human experience” take is just wrong lmao pls be serious rn)#(that's just way too nihilistic buddy let's breathe in a little)

I want to write a Vanyel/Stefen modern-with-magic AU soooo bad but I don’t know Valdemar lore like at all. There are six books standing between me and feeling comfortable enough in the lore to imagine what Valdemar might look like with the internet and planes
#anyway I have unhinged ideas about what modern Valdemar#like. I’m imagining Valdemar as a prosperous#happy country with a high level of social development and technology#public transit everywhere. universal basic income/free high quality healthcare/etc#like. not utopian. not by a long shot.#but overall doing well (at least in comparison to some of the other countries on Velgarth)#HOWEVER they are having this really divisive cultural moment about Heralds and the King#bc they’re basically appointed by a completely unaccountable higher power? and they have so much direct influence and control over#the life of an average person??? why should that be allowed?#so there’s a movement for direct democracy which is very successful at a local level#and is slowly making its way into higher levels of the government#and there’s suddenly intense scrutiny on the heralds. so when Vanyel gets caught up in a series of scandals it does a LOT of damage to#the institution of the heralds. but Vanyel is very very important to the security of the world#bc he successfully prevented the detonation of a nuclear weapon a few years earlier so he’s sort of the only thing standing between#the world and nuclear war#anyway I think that setting is way too dramatic for a weird gay fanfiction. so I’m workshopping it#vanyel ashkevron#last herald mage#gay herald in a squirrel suit

Its real strange when Americans especially (meaning politicians, less citizens but them too sometimes) say socialism doesn't work because how the hell would you even know. Half the shit American politcians describe as socialism isn't socialism, and often they treat those things like the sky will fall if they're implemented (like healthcare. Ignore Canada right above you. Lie about how our system works by telling people you need to wait years to see Drs about life threatening issues when you only get waitlisted for specialists and not for years either, it's generally a few months. Not ideal but not what American politicians say either. Ignore every other country with universal healthcare better than Canada's, which is everyone's, because there's no need to even lie about those after making the country above you look bad for not charging 80K to look at a band-aid, which is somehow an improvement to waitlists like the poor won't just die instead of seeing a dr).
Not to mention the US has invaded so many countries with politics farther left then theirs just to install right wing terrorists and then get mad when some of those terrorists they straight up funded do a 9/11 to them like they have slaughtered thousands to "spread democracy" by overthrowing democratically elected leaders all over the world for being "too socialist" or communist so how do you know socialism doesn't work? If it doesn't it's because America specifically has never allowed it to, like you can't invade every single country that does things mildly different, completely destroy them, and then say "see socialism doesn't work!" like you had nothing to do with the collapse of that system???? It's literally the meme of Eric Andre shooting that guy and being like "how come socialism didn't work!" like they didn't just shoot socialism in the face in cold blood. And also capitalism doesn't need to work at all in any way, efficient or not, for everyone to defend it to the hilt so like ok who cares if socialism works if you don't care that capitalism doesn't and you defend it anyway? Clearly "works" isn't a prerequisite to using that system so that's not even an argument worth bringing up at that point.
#winters ramblings#every time i hear Americans say this but mostly politicians im like ok stop invading EVERYONE#and MAYBE socialism will work like it seems to JUST FINE in denmark!! granted its not a FULLY socialized system theyre still capitalist#obviously. but like you cant i avde everyone and their dog because you hate socialism destroy all their shit and blame SOCIALISM for it#like NO that was american military meddling not anything to do with ANY political system beyond americas like ???#also if other countries have A Thing probably it isnt killing that country. like canadas healthcare DOES suck#its literally the WORST socialized healthcare system in the world like actually. so americans aremt wrong that our system sucks#but NOT FUCKING LIKE THEIRS at least we can GET cancer treatments here no meth cooking needed#our system sucks because not ENOUGH is covered not because NOTHING should be covered#and we should all be at the mercy of 6 healthcare amd insurance companies making money off people dying#still how the fuck can you say socialism does or doesnt do ANYTHING when no one knows what it looks like#in a TON of countries BECAUSE of american meddling they ignore when they shriek about Venezuela#MAYBE if america didnt FUCK EVERYONE AROUND socialism would be just as flawed as capitalism!!#which is allowed to be ALL KINDS OF FUCKED AND FLAWED and no one even CARES but socialism does A ;#*A Bad and suddenly we need to throw it the fuck out. capitalism can employ CHILD SWEAT SHOPS and thats fine#but socialism doesnt work 200% perfect 80 000% of the time and nope it doesnt work lets go back#to using LITERAL SLAVES from prisons thats not a problem worth invading a country about i guess!!

you know what I think? I think we should go back to the 2000s. I think that's when society reached it's technological peak without being self destructive. why do I gotta have a computer on my pocket at all times now? why are companies tracking me down and spying on me through my phone? online election campaigns... with fake news that is almost immediately spread by people who are chronically online? what the heck is the metaverse? let's tone it down for a bit.
society is jumping the gun big time why the fuck are we developing AI and robots and shit brother we don't even have printers or vacuums that aren't dogshit CAN we dial it back
#being so serious right now#i know the internet brings lots of good things#but maybe we should limit it's access into our lives? idk#once again we found ways to develop new problems for ourselves that one wouldn't even think possible#also when i say 'go back to the 2000s' i'm not discrediting any social advancements we've had since then#or technological advances that are good like healthcare#before anyone wants to distort my words

welp. apparently i decided to hold a monday sermon with a dear friend who turned out to be a pro-life conservative. she wanted to 'resepectfully [...] agree to disagree' when i pointed out there were a lot easier, a lot cheaper, and a lot more effective ways to reduce abortions than to criminalize it. i replied to her that, respectfully, the savior i worship does not allow me to be content with thought-terminating cliches when people are getting hurt because of this.
a teenaged girl in Texas (18, might be around the same age as her daughters but I'm sure her girls are completely different) died painfully and unneccessarily of sepsis because she was forced to carry stillborn. but hey, according to her, innocent lives have to be protected. courts should start finding people innocent or pregnant.
those responsible for her death are hiding behind the pulpit, using God as their scapegoat. whatever argument the american civil religion might have about protecting the sanctity of life has gone straight into the fuckin trash can as far as i am concerned, because this very thing has happened before and people were warned that this specific kind of thing would happen.
even the most ardent, women-must-be-subservient-to-men, conservative, orthodox jews know that if it came down to a zygote or a grown woman, the woman is never to be the villain in these matters. but despite christians believing themselves better because they eat bacon, they somehow are caught severely lacking in this particular comparison.
contrast that with the venn diagram between "those in this country who claim christianity (a system of rules and dictates revolving around a man who famously blessed peacemakers)" and "those thinking the Palestinian genocide isn't going hard enough" being a single circle.
hell, our government executes people who turn out to be innocent all the time and yet the death penalty is still just as popular with the crowd that likes to print Jesus everywhere but on their own hearts. a mean person would interpret the broader consensus as thinking the government should only be used as a tool of God's wrath, not His love, not His benevolence, and certainly not His mercy.
(I try not to be mean, but that doesn't necessarily mean I am good at it.)
so, no. i will argue this because it is on my heart to argue it.
this isn't even something you can write off as hospital negligence, because how many doctors were literally afraid to treat her because of all of the hassle, paperwork, and government intrusion into their lives that would have resulted due to changes in texas' laws? isn't that one thing a lot of christians specificially say they wanna change the government to avoid? surely they did not think this happened solely in a vacuum, do they?
one hospital could be negligence. three refusing to treat her is a pattern. the purpose of a system is in what it does, which means laws designed to be compassionate towards a clump of cells has produced a lot of dead women in order to do it. if one isn't enough to count as 'a lot,' especially in the field of 'unnecessary misery and death,' please tell me where you set your number and I will pray for God to humble you in a deeply meaningful way.
the british jurist lord blackstone, the man who many consider the father of british (and by some extent american) common law said that he would sooner allow ten guilty men to go free than to see one innocent man hang. mind you, this was back in the times when a dude could get drawn and quartered for farting on a picture of the king and somehow he's ended up more-advanced than christians in the year of our lord two thousand and twenty four.
this would not have happened had republicans treated pregnant women as literally anything other than irresponsible and/or slutty and democrats done literally anything about roe v wade getting repealed beyond fundraising off of it.
and yet here the fuck we are. I hope we are all proud of that, because the people got exactly what they wanted with it.
#christianity#politics#god#jesus#current events#practicing what one preaches#may we all get what is coming to us#do you think abraham might have failed god's test?#do you think it's impossible for god to test others in a similar manner?#yes i am queer fuck you if you are hating#healthcare#fuck republicans#fuck democrats#fix your bullshit#democrats and republicans will both make sure that abortion remains legal for those who can afford it#election 2024#election day#fuck your favorite genocidal piece of shit and fuck you for your cowardice#free palestine#free gaza#fuck isreal#the idf are posting videos of war crimes on social media with the members of the kinesset saying they should be able to do that

I think one of the reasons the Harris / Walz ticket has so much momentum is because the campaign is genuinely trying to put out this vibe of fun. Like that's all the "brat" thing is, the coconut jokes, just being kind of silly and fun.
And I think it's working, because let's be real, we are all exhausted. It's been all about preserving democracy, defeating fascism, the past eight years. The message has been "vote for us because the country is literally on the line". The vibes are not good when we are stuck back at that fight, and not even discussing trying to make progress on things like housing, healthcare, education, etc. And the fight to just stop fascism? All still true. Project 2025 is real and is extremely scary. We can't let that man back into office.
But the vibe was "vote for us otherwise we're all fucked :(" and now has shifted to "get in, we're making popcorn and then bullying fascists." Like a lot of the issues conservatives bring up, the Harris / Walz is just not engaging them in good faith, as they shouldn't. Republicans bring up abortion, and the Dems are just like, "you want 14 year old to give birth? Weirdo" and just leave it at that. Like YES, that's what you should do. Because it SHOULDNT be a debate. And it's working. This is how you defeat the identify politics thing Republicans have been trying to push for a while. Just mocking them for the stupidity of it all. "Like seriously? You think a book can make someone gay??? Hahaha." None of the Republicans are reacting well. They can't stand it. Vance even complained about bullying!!! Like do you KNOW who picked you as vp??? It's actually laughable, because they have no room to stand on when it comes to bullying.
And a huge part of the mocking and dismissing of Republicans is that the message is clear - were done debating all this stupid stuff. We've won the last two elections' popular vote - most Americans do NOT want christo-facism. It's time to move on. And that's what gives me hope, and the feeling of hope I think a lot of people have picked up on. It's time to address all the issues we've all wished we've been addressing the past decade. It's important we move onto that, and that's the message I'm getting from this campaign (We're not going back). I think it will resonate with a lot of people, because plainly, we're all just sick of this same old news cycle and fake rage bait over things like "should women have rights?", "Should gay people be allowed to exist?" The general populace have answered YES to both these multiple times, and it is time to move on. Maybe I'm being naive, but I am genuinely excited at the idea of putting to bed these debates (it's exhausting trying to fend your very existence) and moving on to actual economic and social policies that could fix a lot of deterioration over the last 2 decades.
